Ulinzi Stars made a flying start to the 12th East Africa Military Games, defeating Burundi's Muzinga FC 4-0 at the Moi Sports Centre in Kasarani, Nairobi, on August 13, 2019.
The match began with an intense start by Ulinzi Stars, with Oscar Wamalwa scoring the opening goal in the 10th minute with a superb header from Brian Birgen's delivery.
However, Burundi suffered an early setback when Steve Mondinduruvugo was substituted after picking an injury in the 20th minute, replaced by Ayel Nibitanga.
Despite several chances, Burundi failed to capitalize on their opportunities, with Ulinzi Stars goalkeeper Timothy Odhiambo denying them a goal-scoring opportunity from a free-kick by Shawori Amisi in the 31st minute.
Amisi had a chance to score after the ball slipped from the goalkeeper's arms, but Odhiambo recovered just in time to thwart the danger.
Ulinzi Stars continued to dominate the game, with Oscar Wamalwa scoring his second goal in the first half, followed by a hat-trick in the second half, with Enosh Ochieng scoring the fourth goal as a substitute.
Despite Burundi's efforts, Ulinzi Stars' defense denied them opportunities to score, ending the first half trailing 0-1.
Ulinzi Stars' captain Kevin Niyouzima's efforts to get a goal in the last minutes were denied by Ulinzi goalkeeper James Saruni, who punched his shot out for an unsuccessful corner.
