Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has urged Chelsea manager Frank Lampard to bring a bit of experience to his team ahead of their UEFA Super Cup clash against Liverpool on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.
Mourinho, who made his Sky Sports punditry debut, believes that including experienced players like Olivier Giroud, Marcos Alonso, and N'golo Kante in the starting lineup will give Chelsea a competitive edge against the Reds.
Chelsea's 4-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday was a major concern for Mourinho, who claims that the Blues' squad was too soft and lacked aggression.
"Chelsea were too soft, not compact defensively, not aggressive enough, there was too much space between the lines. They did not press in blocks," Mourinho said.
He added, "Alonso was on the bench, Kante was on the bench, Giroud was on the bench, and to come to Old Trafford. A little bit of experience would fit well with the team."
