On Sunday night, a 34-year-old man from Talek in Narok West was rushed to the Narok County Referral Hospital with severe injuries after his wife bit off his lower lip in a domestic quarrel.
According to Benson Onsongo, the victim, the incident occurred after he and members of the public rescued his wife, Marcela Kwamboka, from attempting to drown herself in Talek River earlier that day.
After being rescued, Kwamboka turned violent and attacked Onsongo, biting him on various parts of his body, including his lower lip.
Onsongo, who has been married to Kwamboka for four years, suspects that she has been abusing drugs over the past few weeks, which has led to her violent behavior.
Residents have intervened on several occasions to stop Kwamboka's attempts to commit suicide and her fights with neighbors.
Onsongo's sister, Nancy Moraa, called for justice, stating that they want Kwamboka arrested and questioned.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital and may require reconstructive surgery in the future to restore his lip.
