On August 4, 15-year-old Nora Anne Quoirin, who had learning difficulties, went missing from the Dusun rainforest resort in Seremban, Malaysia, after her family arrived for a vacation.

Her family reported her missing, and an extensive search operation was launched by the Malaysian authorities.

On August 14, police found the unclothed body of Nora Anne near a stream about 2.5 km from the resort, and it was later confirmed to be her through identification by her family.

State police chief Mohamad Mat Yusof said, "The family has been brought in to identify the body found today and they have confirmed that the body is indeed Nora Anne."

An autopsy will be carried out on Wednesday morning to determine the cause of death.

Authorities had begun a criminal investigation into the disappearance, but an initial investigation revealed no evidence of criminal behavior.

Nora Anne's family had expressed concerns about her vulnerability, as she had limited verbal communication skills and had never wandered off before.

Her disappearance drew worldwide attention, and an anonymous donor offered a reward of 50,000 ringgit ($11,953) for information leading to her rescue.

The Irish and French embassies in Malaysia were working together to support the Quoirin family, and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian thanked Malaysian authorities for their efforts.
