On August 14, 2019, a dramatic scene unfolded in Narok County, leaving a 34-year-old man with a severe injury.
Benson Onsongo, 34, was involved in a domestic dispute with his 27-year-old wife over a trip to visit her parents in Kisii County.
According to Onsongo, his wife had threatened to commit suicide after he asked her to postpone the trip until he could raise money for her transport fare.
On the evening of the incident, Onsongo was informed that his wife was about to end her life by jumping into a nearby river. He rushed to the scene and managed to talk her out of it.
However, on their way back home, the wife pounced on him and bit off his lower lip, as well as biting him in the hand and abdomen.
Onsongo was rushed to Talek Health Center for first aid before being transferred to the Narok County Referral Hospital for further treatment.
A nurse at the facility, Priscilla Mwarigi, confirmed that Onsongo was recovering well but his lower lip was completely bitten off.
