Get ready for a thrilling ride into the world of con artists in Nairobi. The highly anticipated web series 'Janjaruka' is set to launch today, Wednesday, at PAWA254 and online from 6 pm.
Produced by Flick 7 Pictures, 'Janjaruka' is a comedy/thriller web series that delves into the serious issue of conmanship in Nairobi. The series poses a thought-provoking question: 'Should we accept that conmanship is a part of life in Nairobi, and why do those paid to protect us often take advantage of us when we seek their help?'
According to Flick 7 director Aggie Nyagari, the aim of 'Janjaruka' is to spark a conversation about being conned in Nairobi and to ask if there's anything that can be done about it. 'Our aim with Janjaruka is to begin a conversation about being conned in Nairobi. And to ask the question, is there anything we can do about it?' Aggie told the Star.
The series also advises the audience to question things before parting with their cash. 'If something sounds too good to be true, it's because it almost always is. So we all need to wisen up,' Aggie said.
Several celebrities have come forward to share their personal stories of being conned, including rapper Jua Cali, actors Lenana Kariba, Pascal Tokodi, Nice Githinji, and others. Their stories can be found on the 'Janjaruka Series' YouTube channel, where a new episode is released every Tuesday from August 27, and a new celebrity con story is shared every Thursday.
