Deputy President William Ruto has been known for his 'hustler' persona, but a resident from Kisumu County has come forward to expose his hypocrisy. The resident claims that Ruto's interactions with low-income Kenyans are nothing but a ploy to win their votes.
Speaking to NTV, the resident stated that Ruto's approach is a far cry from the 'hustler' image he portrays. 'He has been selling himself as a candidate who represents the low-income earners, while at the same time showing others like Uhuru, Raila, and Gideon as being from royal families. But that's not true because Ruto has never voted for anyone outside of those big families since 1992,' the resident said.
The resident went on to list Ruto's voting history, stating that he has consistently voted for candidates from wealthy families. 'In 1992, he voted for Moi, who is from a big family. In 1997, he voted for Moi again. In 2002, he voted for Kibaki, who is also from a big family. In 2007, he voted for Raila, who is from a big family. In 2013, he voted for Uhuru, who is from a big family, and he did the same in 2017 when he voted for Uhuru again. So, he can't come out now and claim that he has been with the low-income earners all along,' the resident said.
Ruto has announced his intention to run for president in 2022, and he is facing stiff competition from other candidates, including Gideon Moi, Raila Odinga, and Musalia Mudavadi. His supporters have been touting his 'hustler' image as a key factor in his campaign, but the resident's claims have raised questions about the authenticity of Ruto's persona.
