Published on August 13, 2019, Wendy Waeni's mother, Magdalene Syombua, has come out to refute claims that she mismanaged funds given to her by prominent personalities to support her daughter's gymnastics talent.
Magdalene Syombua, a staunch Christian, rubbished the allegations made by her daughter's former manager, Joe Mwangi, who accused her of wasting the money on alcohol.
However, Syombua revealed that she does not drink alcohol and that her daughter can attest to this.
She further accused Joe Mwangi of only giving her a small share of the money he received from politicians and media personalities to aid in developing and promoting her daughter's talent.
According to Syombua, Mwangi received Ksh.140,000 from Raila Odinga and only gave her Ksh.30,000, while he got Ksh.100,000 from Kalonzo Musyoka and TV presenter Jeff Koinange each and she only received Ksh.20,000 and Ksh.4,000 respectively.
Ms. Syombua also alleged that Mwangi demanded an unnecessarily large share of money from Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who gave her Ksh.500,000 to support her daughter's talent in 2016.
She further revealed that Mwangi confiscated and denied her daughter access to her phone, only returning it after Wendy's shocking revelation on Jeff Koinange Live (JKL).
