On August 13, 2019, the KICOSCA Games witnessed an exciting match between Ugatuzi football team and Meru County at the Kericho Teachers Training College grounds in Kericho County.
Meru County took an early lead, scoring in the 29th minute after Emmanuel Okumu dribbled past the defenders and perfectly placed the ball into the right side of the net.
However, Ugatuzi's John Amalla quickly equalized, tapping in a simple cross from Benard Wire just two minutes before the half-time whistle.
At the half-time break, the score was level, but Ugatuzi took the lead in the 54th minute after Amalla tapped in a swift cross from Antony Mwaniki.
Mwaniki then made a lone run and placed the ball to the right side of the net, beating the shot-stopper on a one-on-one situation to make it 3-1 for Ugatuzi.
Amalla completed his hat-trick by netting from the penalty spot after shot-stopper Gitonga fouled Ugatuzi's Mwaniki, Amalla placing the ball to the furthest corner beating Gitonga to set the scoreboard at 4-1.
Ugatuzi completed their rout after Gitonga failed to stop a simple tap-in from Ugatuzi's midfielder Mwaniki.
Ugatuzi's Bernard Wire was a budding influence in the opening minutes, his penetrating runs and shots almost giving them an early lead, but Meru County's shot-stopper punched out his effort.
