On Sunday night, police in Murang'a arrested a suspect accused of sodomy after he resurfaced from hiding at Kagaa village near Kenol market.

According to reports, the suspect had allegedly been lacing men's drinks with an unknown chemical at a local liquor joint, leading to claims of sodomy.

Police had to fire into the air to save the suspect from an angry mob that had formed, and he was subsequently booked at Makuyu Police Station.

A victim claimed that he was asked by a friend to assist in pushing a motorcycle, only to regain consciousness hours later and learn that he had been 'sexually assaulted'.

The suspect has been known to deceive his victims into assisting him with his motorcycle before overpowering and forcing them into his room, according to local residents.

“The suspect has a wife and such behaviour will not be entertained in Murang’a. It was sheer luck that the police came before he accomplished his mission,” said a resident.

Murang’a South OCPD John Onditi stated that the matter is being pursued to establish the facts, with contradicting information surrounding the suspect's actions.

“Some claim the suspect was caught stealing, others allege sodomy. We are probing the two versions of the story,” said Onditi.
