On Tuesday, the Nyandarua County Assembly unveiled a new golden mace, valued at Sh4.3 million, to replace a wooden one supplied by the defunct Transition Authority.
According to Speaker Ndegwa Wahome, the mace embodies the authority of the speaker, as stated in Standing Order No. 3.
"Today, I'm deeply privileged and honoured to be presenting the second Mace of the County Assembly to the House," Mr Wahome said.
The golden mace is made of brass and finished in 18-carat gold plating, standing at 120 cm tall, weighing 7.5 kilograms, and featuring two stands and five facets representing the five sub-counties of Nyandarua.
The design of the mace is inspired by the geographical and environmental features of Nyandarua County, including the National Coat of Arms and the County Government of Nyandarua Coat of Arms.
Engravings of a Hippopotamus head, the Aberdare ranges, and a green potato plant motif are also featured on the mace, symbolizing the strength and authority of the County Assembly.
