On August 13, 2019, Mombasa police launched a surprise raid at the home of tycoon Ali Punjani, who is wanted by police for drug trafficking.
During the raid, police arrested Karki Sushmi Ja, a 24-year-old Nepalese woman, and two men of Nepalese and Indian origin.
Mombasa police commander Johnston Ipara confirmed the arrests, stating that the three individuals were detained following the raid.
