On August 13, 2019, a powerful message was shared on social media by a 27-year-old Kenyan woman living with HIV/AIDS, Doreen Moraa.
Despite her status, Doreen has never let it deter her from doing what she loves, and she has used her social media platforms to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and fight stigma.
She shared a powerful message encouraging HIV positive patients that it’s not a death sentence, saying, 'I was born with HIV, now I’m 27 years❤?things have changed. Times have changed. HIV is no longer a death sentence the secret is acceptance and ADHERENCE, and if you are HIV negative stay negative condomize & use PrEP and know the status of your partner. HIV is preventable so let us prevent new infections.'
Her message resonated with many, including Leah Chido Nyamakupe, who commented, 'You are a beautiful story for sure.You are truly making a difference dear. Stigma is real.'
