Kenya's hockey teams, men and women, are competing in the 2020 Olympics qualifiers, which kicked off on Monday, August 12, 2019, at the StellenBosch University in South Africa.
The women's team, known as 'Tausi,' secured a crucial 1-0 win over Namibia, with United States International University's Makokha scoring the only goal in the 45th minute.
The win is a morale-booster for Tausi ahead of their second match against Ghana on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.
However, the men's team, 'Chui,' suffered a 3-2 defeat to Ghana, with Festus Onyango scoring Kenya's second goal in the 51st minute.
The week-long tournament, played in a round-robin format, aims to select teams to represent the continent in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
On Tuesday, August 13, 2019, the women's team will face Ghana at 1 pm, while the men's team will take on Egypt at 3 pm in Kenyan time.
