Published on August 13, 2019, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has dismissed speculation that he will quit the team next season due to the sale of his $39.5 million mansion in Boston.
Brady, 42, signed a two-year, $70 million contract extension with the Patriots in August 2018, which will keep him with the team until 2021. However, there is a clause in the contract that could make him a free agent in March 2020.
The six-time Super Bowl champion and his wife, Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen, recently put their 9,716-square-foot mansion on the market for $39.5 million. The estate features a chef's kitchen, a recreation room, a theater, a wine room, a gym, a massage room, and a spa.
Speaking to WEEI radio on Monday, Brady insisted that the sale of the mansion is not a sign that he will leave the Patriots. 'You shouldn't read into anything. I think it takes a long time to sell a house,' he said.
Brady also stated that he is at a point in his life where there are many considerations that go into playing, including his busy professional and personal life. He added that he loves playing for the Patriots and has a great relationship with the team's owner, Robert Kraft, and coach, Bill Belichick.
Despite refusing to confirm whether he will remain with the Patriots next season, Brady insisted that his goal to play until age 45 hasn't changed. 'I think I'm in a great mental, emotional place to approach the season,' he said. 'There is no point in worrying about things like that.'
