Kenyan gospel singer Jimmy Gait has been dealing with a mysterious condition for three months, forcing him to spend time in and out of hospitals.
On Sunday, Gait traveled to India for specialized treatment, where he will undergo a throat operation.
"For three months I have been inactive on social media prompting people to ask about my whereabouts, I have been to several hospitals seeking medication for undisclosed ailment hence my absence from the limelight," Gait explained in a statement.
He will be in India for approximately three weeks, and has asked his fans to pray for him as he undergoes treatment.
Doctors have advised Gait against singing until he is cured, a prospect that has left him worried about his music career.
"I have never been to surgery. That [it will be] on my greatest asset makes me worry more. Let us not be negative," Gait said.
