On August 10, 2019, Pastor Victor Kanyari spoke to Word Is about his marriage breakup with singer Betty Bayo, revealing that immaturity was the main reason behind their separation.
According to Kanyari, he and Betty married while still young and immature, with him being only 31 years old at the time.
“Betty was the best woman I have ever met but I think when we met we were both still childish,” Kanyari said.
He explained that their immaturity made it difficult for them to handle the challenges of marriage, leading to the breakup.
Many believe that the two separated after Betty realised that her husband had been running a false ministry, but Kanyari denied this, stating that the TV expose was not the main reason for their separation.
“She was overcome by Pastor Kanyari’s scandalous life,” Kanyari said, but added that Betty stood by him.
However, Kanyari admitted that he did not listen to Betty’s concerns and that their differences in opinion led to their separation.
When asked if he still loves Betty, Kanyari said, “You cannot force love to anyone. Na ukiachwa achika. I would say, if she loves me, I love her too but if she does not, then why should I force myself to her?”
As for his current relationship status, Kanyari said, “The time will for me to move on and the whole world will know but for now no hurry in Africa. I will move on when I want, let me have my good time and continue serving God,”
