On Friday, the Ford Foundation honored more than 20 young Members of Parliament (MPs) and County Assembly members for their exemplary performance in and outside Parliament.

The recognition was given for their initiatives that connect with the youth, with the legislators being feted for their leadership and commitment to addressing issues affecting young people.

Johnson Sakaja, the chairperson of the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association (KYPA), urged his fellow legislators to be intentional and consistent in their leadership, emphasizing the need for genuine and diligent work.

Among the awardees were Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who has been a vocal advocate for students' welfare, and Murang'a County Woman Representative Sabina Chege, who serves as the Chairperson of the National Assembly Committee on Health.

Others recognized included Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda, Molo MP Kuria Kimani, Nominated MPs Isaac Mwaura and Gideon Keter, who has been pushing for increased youth representation in Parliament.

The MPs plan to meet with President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss issues affecting thousands of youth in the country.
