On Monday, residents of Gacigoni village in Kirinyaga County were left in shock after a four-year-old girl was found brutally murdered.
According to reports, the girl was sent by her grandmother to buy a packet of flour on Sunday evening at around 6 pm, but she never returned.
When darkness fell and the girl had not returned, her grandmother called her neighbours and they began a search for her, but to no avail.
It was only in the morning that they heard people screaming, saying that her body had been found.
The girl's body was discovered dumped at a coffee plantation, with blood oozing from her mouth and private parts.
A packet of flour was also found at the scene, indicating that she was accosted while heading back home.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, with the girl's body moved to Kibugi Funeral Home in Kutus town.
This incident comes after a member of the same family, a 31-year-old cousin to the deceased girl, was found murdered and his body dumped at Thirikwa Coffee Factory's farm last year.
