On July 19th, 2019, Tob Cohen, a Dutch billionaire living in Nairobi, went missing from his Lower Kabete home. His disappearance has sparked a police investigation, with detectives questioning his estranged Kenyan wife, Sarah Kamotho, about three weeks later.
According to Daily Nation, Cohen had filed a divorce case and assault charges against Kamotho, who he had been married to for 12 years, before his disappearance. Detectives were unable to trace CCTV footage of his last moments at his house, as cameras at the gate were reinstalled on August 3rd, two weeks after he went missing.
Workers at Cohen's home and Kamotho told police that the billionaire removed the cameras and they were replaced after he went missing. They also reported that Cohen was picked up by a white car on July 19th and has not contacted his family and friends since then.
During the interrogation, Kamotho was reportedly very composed and told detectives that Cohen at times disappears only to resurface after two weeks.
Cohen's sister, Gabriela, spoke to Daily Nation via phone from Amsterdam, saying that she spoke to his brother on the day he disappeared and did not indicate he would be traveling or there was any problem. She reported that they had agreed to talk daily because Cohen was living in fear of his life.
Kenyan police have established that the tycoon did not leave the country and his phone went off near Parklands on July 20th.
