On July 19th, Tob Cohen, a Dutch billionaire based in Nairobi, went missing from his Lower Kabete home. Three weeks later, detectives questioned his estranged Kenyan wife, Sarah Kamotho, as part of their investigation.
According to Daily Nation, Cohen had filed a divorce case and assault charges against Kamotho, who he had been married to for 12 years, before his disappearance.
However, detectives were unable to trace CCTV footage of Cohen's last moments at his house on July 19th, as the cameras at the gate had been reinstalled on August 3rd, two weeks after he went missing. Workers at Cohen's home and Kamotho told police that the billionaire had removed the cameras and they were replaced after he went missing.
“Apparently, the wife was very composed during the interrogation and told us that Mr. Cohen at times disappears only to resurface after two weeks,” a detective told Daily Nation.
On the day of his disappearance, Cohen's sister, Gabriela, spoke to his brother via phone from Amsterdam, but he did not indicate that he would be traveling or that there was any problem. Gabriela reported his disappearance to the Dutch police, who called their Kenyan embassy to engage local authorities.
Kenyan police have established that the tycoon did not leave the country and his phone went off near Parklands on July 20th.
