August 12, 2019, marked a significant day for Eintracht Frankfurt, as their 25-year-old striker Ante Rebic scored a 12-minute hat-trick to send his team past Waldhof Mannheim and into the German Cup second round.
Rebic, a Croatia international, is the last of a trio of strikers who carried Frankfurt into the Europa League semi-finals last season. His teammates Luka Jovic and Sebastien Haller have already moved to Real Madrid and West Ham United, respectively.
Italian media have reported that Inter and AC Milan were eager to sign Rebic, but Eintracht Frankfurt's sports director Fredi Bobic remains optimistic about the striker's future with the club.
“As things stand now I expect that he will stay,” Bobic told Die Welt newspaper on Monday. “We hope and wish that Ante will stay. Until now no single club has come to us and put in a written offer.”
Frankfurt will kick off their new Bundesliga campaign against Hoffenheim on Sunday, with the transfer window in Germany set to shut on September 2.
