Musalia Mudavadi's Presidential Ambition Takes Shape ¶
August 12, 2019
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has been quietly building his profile as a strong opposition voice in Kenya, increasing his chances of becoming a top contender in the 2022 presidential election.
Mudavadi has assembled a team of technocrats as his Political Think Tank, a 15-member group that includes Eliud Owalo, a management consultant who previously worked for Raila Odinga's presidential campaign in 2013.
Other members of the team include Sam Karanja, a lawyer who chaired Jubilee Party's Appeals Tribunal, and Eric Wafukho, who served in the NASA Policy, Research and Strategy Team in 2017.
George Musyoka, who was a coordinator for Uhuru Kenyatta's presidential campaign in 2017, and David Kabeberi, an accounting and financial expert, are also part of the team.
Jimmy Gathu, a media personality, has been appointed as Mudavadi's new media liaison boss, tasked with developing new political strategies and managing his communication unit.
Mudavadi has also set up a presidential campaign secretariat at Riverside Drive in Nairobi, away from the ANC's known offices in Lavington.
