As I watched the Community Shield match between Liverpool and Manchester City, I was struck by the significance of teamwork in achieving success. The match ended in penalties, with Liverpool emerging victorious, but it was the team's unity and coordination that ultimately led to their triumph.
Similarly, in the business world, a strong team is essential for achieving goals and overcoming challenges. As an entrepreneur, I've learned that having a well-rounded team with diverse skills and expertise is crucial for success.
One of the key takeaways from my experience is the importance of having a clear vision and plan. In football, the coach has a clear vision of how the game should be played, and the players work together to achieve that vision. In business, it's the same – the entrepreneur or leader must have a clear vision and plan for the company, and the team must work together to achieve that vision.
As I reflect on my own journey, I realize that building a strong team was instrumental in my success. I started my career with a small shop at the basement of Imenti House, selling T-shirts and providing branding services to small businesses. I then assembled a team of talented individuals, including my friend Dennis, who became my manager and business partner, and DJ Jr, who became my personal DJ.
Today, I have a full office and an amazing staff that believes in the dream without the money. We have people handling public relations, communication, media relations, social media, and studio work. My approach is simple – I believe that having a clear vision and plan is more important than having a lot of money. As I always say, 'Why get 100 per cent of Sh100 yet you can get 40 per cent of Sh10 million?'
