Steven Polack, a seasoned coach, has started his coaching career at Gor Mahia with a bang, leading the team to a 2-0 win over Burundi's Aigle Noir CS in their first CAF Champions League match.

However, some players, including Francis Afriyie, Gislein Yikpe, and Maurice Ojwang, were unable to participate in the match due to delayed registration, while others, such as Dennis Oliech, Curtis Wekesa, and Philemon Otieno, were ruled out due to injuries.
Ernest Wendo, the team's defender, is still serving a ban.
