A Nairobi police officer and a civilian were arrested after being accused of impersonating National Agency for the Campaign against Drug Abuse (NACADA) officials, according to local authorities.
The suspects, identified as a recently interdicted officer and a civilian, were detained in Kahawa West following reports of public harassment. Residents alleged the pair demanded payments while threatening unspecified legal consequences for noncompliance.
Police confirmed the officer was under investigation for a murder charge in an ongoing court case. Detectives recovered three teargas canisters and a pair of handcuffs during the arrest.
