On Sunday evening, a massive fire engulfed the residence of Homa Bay County Commissioner Harman Shambi, leaving the property in ruins.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but investigations have been launched to determine the source of the blaze.
According to Shambi, he and his family members, including children, were in the house taking evening tea around 6:30pm when they noticed smoke coming out of one of the rooms.
‘We tried putting out the fire using water but we did not succeed as it quickly spread to other rooms,’ Shambi said.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire, although the children did get a little scared.
Shambi, who was previously the Nakuru East Deputy County Commissioner, had just moved into the new residence following his recent transfer on June 27, 2019.
The fire destroyed property worth millions of shillings, including important documents.
