On August 10, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto attended the wedding of Amos Olempaka, a human rights activist in Baringo county.
However, the event took a dramatic turn when Ruto paused his address to call out some members of the media, accusing them of obstructing residents' view.
"You members of the press have become too many. Some of you should move so that people at the back can follow the proceedings," Ruto told some of the media persons.
His security detail then intervened, directing the journalists away from the podium.
When asked to address the crowd, Ruto made it clear that he was not there to speak to the media, but to the congregants.
