On Saturday, 13 couples exchanged vows in a mass wedding ceremony at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Embu town, marking a significant milestone in their relationships.

As the church celebrated its 60-year anniversary, the couples seized the opportunity to tie the knot in a ceremony led by Father Stephen Kinyau.

Many of the couples had already been cohabiting, with some having up to six fully grown children. The mass wedding provided a more affordable option for them to formalize their unions.

Among the couples was George Makwemba, 46, and his wife Eunice Kerumbo, 43, who had been together for 20 years. They exchanged vows in front of their children and friends, surrounded by the joy and celebration of the occasion.

Mr. Makwemba advised couples planning to marry to tie the knot in church, citing the blessings and cost-effectiveness of the ceremony. He expressed hope that the ceremony would rejuvenate their union and bring them closer together in the future.
