Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is facing a corruption case involving KSh 588 million meant for road projects in the county, which has seen him barred from accessing his office.
As the motion to remove him gains momentum, MCA Elija Njoroge Kururia has revealed that his proposal is 95% complete, with a major dispute brewing over who should take over as governor.
Speaking to NTV News on August 11, 2019, Kururia stated that he would not abandon the motion, despite some members wanting him to do so to save the governor.
"The motion is 95% complete, and we want to do it properly because we don't want to be like Wambora," Kururia said.
He added that the next step would be to collect signatures from all MCAs in the county, before presenting the motion to the assembly.
"I will not abandon the motion, even if it passes or fails, because my job as an MCA is to know who comes in because of mistakes made," Kururia stated.
Waititu has been reported to have opened a new office in Nairobi, despite the ongoing dispute with his deputy, Dr. James Nyoro, over who should take over as governor.
