Wazito FC's Elvis Rupia is eager to make a mark in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) after joining the team in the ongoing transfer window.
On Sunday, Rupia scored a goal as Wazito edged Murang'a Sports Excellence Academy Limited (Murang'a Seal) 2-0 in a friendly match played at the Cambridge International School.
Wazito's Derrick Otanga scored the second goal just before the break.
Rupia left the KPL in June 2018 to join Power Dynamos in Zambia, where he failed to make a significant impact.
"It was difficult to adapt at first due to the weather and other factors," Rupia told Nation Sport. "The biggest difference is the league in Zambia is more physical and they play faster. I adapted after a while and played over 20 matches. It was a good experience for me," he added.
Now back in the KPL, Rupia has set ambitious targets for himself, including scoring at least 15 goals in the first leg and improving on that in the second leg.
"I have been working very hard and I am in good shape," Rupia said. "I am glad to be back in the KPL and really looking forward to the league's kick off. Wazito might be a small club but I love their level of professionalism and this sets them apart from other Kenyan teams," he added.
