Police Arrest Two Men Over Ozil and Sead Kolasinac Security Threats

On August 8, 2019, two men were arrested outside Mesut Ozil's house in north London in connection with security threats that led to two Arsenal stars missing their Premier League opener at Newcastle.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Ferhat Ercan, 27, of Highgate, and Salaman Ekinci, 27, of Tottenham, were charged under Section 4a of the Public Order Act following an incident in Camden on August 8.

The two men were due to appear at Highbury Corner magistrates' court on September 6, 2019.

Earlier, Arsenal announced that Ozil and team-mate Sead Kolasinac would not travel to Newcastle due to 'further security incidents' that were being investigated by police.

On Friday, August 9, 2019, Arsenal released a statement explaining their absence from the first weekend of Premier League action, stating: 'The welfare of our players and their families is always a top priority and we have taken this decision following discussion with the players and their representatives.'
