On August 11, 2019, a devastating fuel tanker fire in Morogoro, Tanzania, claimed the lives of over sixty people and left 70 others seriously injured.
President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya sent a message of condolence and comfort to the families of the victims, expressing his support and prayers for the people of Tanzania during this difficult time.
"To my Brother, President John Pombe Magufuli, may I assure you of my Government's support during this trying moment," President Kenyatta said in his message.
He also wished quick recovery to those who were injured in the incident and admitted in various hospitals, and prayed for God to comfort those who lost their loved ones in the tragedy.
The incident occurred when a fuel tanker burst into flames after overturning in Morogoro town, with victims rushing to collect leaking fuel, a similar incident to the Sachangwan tragedy in Nakuru County ten years ago.
