On August 8, 2019, police arrested two men, Ferhat Ercan and Salaman Ekinci, outside the north London home of Arsenal star Mesut Ozil.

The men, both 27, were charged with a public order offence under Section 4a of the Public Order Act, according to the Metropolitan Police.

They are due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on September 6, 2019.

The incident occurred just days after Ozil and teammate Sead Kolasinac were targeted by carjackers in north London.

"Think we're fine," Kolasinac posted on social media after the attack, alongside a picture of himself and Ozil.

Arsenal said the players had been left out of Sunday's Premier League opener at Newcastle due to "further security incidents".

Police are treating the public order offence and the attempted car-jacking as separate incidents.
