On Saturday, Huawei, a Chinese telecom giant, unveiled its first product using HarmonyOS, a new operating system. The product, a smart television, marks the first use of HarmonyOS and will be available in China from Thursday.

HarmonyOS, which was revealed by Huawei on Friday, is an alternative operating system for phones and other smart devices. It was developed by Huawei in response to looming US sanctions that could prevent the firm from using Android technology.

According to Huawei, the new smart television will be marketed by its mid-range brand, Honor. The television is the first product to use HarmonyOS, and its launch marks a significant milestone for the company.

Huawei has been at the center of the Washington-Beijing trade war, and the company has been blacklisted by US President Donald Trump amid suspicions that it provides a backdoor for Chinese intelligence services. Huawei denies these allegations.
