Ex-Moi-Era Minister Hezron Manduku Dies in Kenya ¶
Hezron Manduku, a former Kenyan politician and medical doctor, has passed away at the age of 79. He served as a minister in the government of former President Daniel Arap Moi and was a member of parliament for Nyaribari Masaba constituency.
According to his family, Manduku had been unwell for a long time and had been hospitalized at the Nairobi Hospital. He was pronounced dead on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at 3:00 am.
Manduku was a renowned medical doctor who had worked at several hospitals in Kenya, including the Kenyatta National Hospital and the Kakamega Hospital. He also founded his own private hospital, Hema Hospital, in Kisii County.
He was a member of parliament for Nyaribari Masaba constituency from 1992 to 1997, serving two terms. Manduku was a close associate of former President Daniel Arap Moi and served as a minister in his government.
He is survived by his wife and children, including his son, Dr. Robert Manduku, who has been managing the family's business interests.
Manduku studied medicine at the People's Friendship University in Russia from 1964 to 1969.
