The Rise of Male Performance Enhancers in Kenya

Published on August 11, 2019

Men in Kenya are increasingly turning to performance enhancers to address erectile dysfunction and low libido, a trend that has been linked to excessive drinking and sedentary lifestyles.

According to a trader who sells these products, the market for male performance boosters is booming business. He claims to know the ages, conditions, and even diagnoses of his regular customers, many of whom are young men in their 20s and 30s.

Conversations with various users and sellers of these products suggest that the problem of male performance has moved to the younger demographic in Kenya. The entry of fast food joints and the love of sedentary lifestyles has led to a rise in obesity among young men, which in turn has compromised their ability to perform in the bedroom.

Many men in Kenya approach groin matters the same way they approach their cars, with some claiming that no matter how drunk they get, their groin will find its way home just like their cars. However, this is a form of denial, as excessive drinking has come between men and their ability to please their women.

Urban men who frequent pubs, lounges, and membership clubs often pontificate on topical issues, but what they do not tell anyone is that they pay for their drinking sins later in the bedroom. Many suffer in silent denial, moving from one partner to another in the hope that a change of scenery will help bolster and harden their delivery.

Kenyan women have expressed their frustration with their men's inability to meet their pleasure expectations, with some warning that male non-performance may become a national crisis if left unchecked.
