Deputy President William Ruto led a team in negotiating a dowry for his younger brother David Ruto, who is set to marry his long-time fiancée Carol Kitur.
The ceremony, known as 'Koito' in Kalenjin, was held in Ziwa, Uasin Gishu County on Friday, August 9, 2019. The event involves the negotiation of dowry by elders from both the groom and bride's sides.
DP Ruto was accompanied by several leaders, including Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Soy MP Caleb Kositany, and Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Shollei.
During the ceremony, the groom is usually kept away until the negotiation is complete.
