Siaya County's 42 MCAs are facing allegations of embezzling Sh8 million meant for a foreign trip to Uganda that never took place.
According to investigations, the MCAs allegedly pocketed Sh200,000 each from the county assembly coffers for a trip that was staged in Jinja, Uganda, in February 2019.
Shockingly, one of the MCAs who died in 2018 was listed among those who were supposed to have taken the trip.
Joanes Andiego Odongo, the late Central Sakwa MCA and Majority Whip, passed away on May 17th, 2018, after a long battle with liver and kidney complications.
It is alleged that the MCAs took their passports to the Busia border for stamping, but never actually traveled to Uganda.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) will begin questioning each of the MCAs over the matter starting August 12th.
