On Thursday, a tragic incident occurred at Lumama Mixed Secondary School in Lugari sub-County, Kakamega County, where a Form Three student allegedly took his own life in a love triangle gone wrong.
According to reports, the student, who is a year ahead of his alleged girlfriend, a Form Two student, poisoned himself after receiving information that she had a secret love affair with another student from a neighboring school.
Lugari location Chief Evans Adavaji confirmed the incident, stating that the student's actions were triggered by the news of his girlfriend's alleged infidelity.
“After the boy heard that his girlfriend in Form Two had another boyfriend, he took the poison… He was later taken to Lumakanda Sub-County Hospital after the attempted suicide,” Adavaji told Citizen Digital.
Unfortunately, the student died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
