On Saturday, the Nairobi Central SDA church was closed, and congregants were directed to worship at the nearby St George's Secondary School.
The move comes as the church is embroiled in ongoing wrangles, which have led to the expulsion of 15 members ahead of the annual camp, which kicked off on the same day.
The expulsions, carried out by Central Kenya Conference president Pr John Kiragu Ngunyi, are expected to fuel further tensions in the church.
Top government officials who worship at the church have reportedly sought alternative places of worship due to the chaos.
The church claims the 15 expelled members are the main trouble-makers, stating in a letter to all pastors and churches of the Central Kenya Conference: “This is to let you know that the persons named do not belong to the Seventh Day Adventist faith and their names were dropped from our books.”
Earlier, a meeting held at a hotel in Kilimani, Nairobi, failed to reach a consensus as the warring parties declined to cede ground.
