Clarke Oduor Leaves Leeds United for Barnsley ¶
Published on August 10, 2019, Clarke Oduor, a 20-year-old Kenyan winger, has left Leeds United to join Barnsley in the English Championship.
Clarke Oduor has been with Leeds United since 2010, but has now ended his near decade-long association with the club. He has signed a four-year deal with Barnsley.
Clarke Oduor was highly rated within the United ranks and his deadline day move away from the club came as a surprise. However, it's believed that his desire to play more motivated him to move away from Marcelo Bielsa's side.
Clarke Oduor was born in Siaya, Kenya, before his parents relocated to the UK. He made his professional debut in January 2019 against Queens Park Rangers.
He is set to make his debut for Barnsley against Sheffield United on Saturday. Clarke Oduor spoke of his delight at joining Barnsley, saying, "I’m excited about the new challenge and what it’s going to bring. It’s great that Barnsley have faith in me and they want me so much and, for me personally, it’s a great boost."
He also mentioned that knowing a few lads at Barnsley will help him settle into the club a lot easier and help him hit the ground running. Clarke Oduor is versatile and can play on the left-wing and at left-back.
Clarke Oduor made the cut to join Bielsa's team for the pre-season tour of Australia and was on the bench against Manchester United. He signed professional terms with the club on January 16, 2017, and went on to impress club eggheads.
He made his senior debut for Leeds in January 6 against Queens Park Rangers. The 20-year-old right winger made appearances in both the Under-18s and Under-23s.
