Many are questioning how the tax will be implemented and whether it is fair to charge city residents for bringing in chickens from other areas.
Some have even suggested that the tax is a ploy to target certain communities, reminiscent of the Moi regime's tactics.
As one Twitter user put it, 'Stop the chickens from upcountry so that the politicians who run chicken businesses in Nairobi can feed the common man!'
Others have raised questions about how the authorities will know whether a chicken is from upcountry or not.
One Twitter user asked, 'Oh, and how will the authorities know the chicken is from upcountry? Do upcountry chickens exhibit unique characteristics?'
