Published on August 10, 2019, a fuel tanker explosion in Tanzania has left a trail of destruction and death. At least 57 people have been killed and 65 injured in the incident.
The explosion occurred in Morogoro region, approximately 200 km west of the port city of Dar es Salaam, a major route for transporting cargo and fuel from the port, which is the country's commercial capital.
According to eyewitness Daniel Ngogo, the situation is 'really bad' with many people dying, including those who were not stealing fuel from the tanker.
Disasters like this have happened all too frequently in parts of Africa where people are willing to take huge risks to remove fuel from tankers and pipelines.
Just last month, at least 45 people were killed when a crashed fuel tanker exploded in Nigeria's northern Benue state.
