On August 10, 2019, Yvette Obura, the mother of gospel singer Kevin Bahati's daughter, responded to claims that Bahati still has romantic feelings for her.
Obura's response came after she asked her followers to share their assumptions about her, which she would then address.
One of her fans stated, 'Bahati still loves you.'
Obura laughed off the question, saying that even the Bible instructs people to love their neighbors, and that she loves the fan who asked the question. She also clarified that there are different types of love.
'Ata Bible ilisema, 'love your neighbor' Ata mimi nakupenda… As in there different kinds of love,' she said.
Obura also denied claims that she still loves Bahati but cannot admit to it, saying 'No' to the allegations.
Another fan asked if she sometimes accompanies her daughter when she is with Bahati, to which Obura replied that co-parenting is not about spending time together, but rather about attending to their individual responsibilities.
'No I don’t wanaenda kivyao. Hii co-parenting pia sio kufuatana kila mahali. Kila mtu na mambo yake,' she said.
Obura also praised Bahati as a good father, saying that he provides enough for their daughter Mueni Bahati.
