Esther Nyaiyaki, the Supreme Court registrar, has been summoned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to record a statement over allegations that she compiled a report used to nullify the August 8 presidential results.
However, many Kenyans are questioning the timing and motives behind the EACC's move, with some accusing the commission of misplaced priorities and being an extension of the Jubilee government.
The EACC's investigation of Nyaiyaki has been described as a 'witch hunt' and an 'intimidation of the judiciary' ahead of the repeat presidential election on October 26, 2017.
It is worth noting that the EACC's move comes at a time when Kenyans' confidence in the credibility of commissions such as the EACC, Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) continues to erode.
Many are now calling on Kenyans to stand with Esther Nyaiyaki and reject the Jubilee government's tactics of threats and intimidation.
