On August 9, 2019, detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) foiled a bribery attempt by Kisumu City director of public health, Osborn Oduor.

According to a detective privy to the arrest, Oduor had demanded Sh10,000 from a hotelier to withdraw a case pending before the court.

The case, which was scheduled for hearing on August 14, 2019, allegedly stemmed from an accusation that the hotelier was operating an eatery without wearing an apron.

However, the director's plan was thwarted, and he was arrested in his office at the city hall after receiving the bribe.

Osborn Oduor has been released on a Sh50,000 cash bail and will be arraigned in court on Tuesday to answer to the charges of bribery.

Western Region EACC director Ignatius Wekesa confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect was being processed.
