Kenya's National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka are among 85 lawmakers and parliamentary staff who have traveled to the US for a legislative summit.
The trip, which has raised concerns over the cost to taxpayers, is part of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) in Nashville, Tennessee.
According to Daily Nation, Kenya has the largest delegation among the countries represented in the US conference, with Nigeria following closely behind with 20 representatives.
ODM leader Raila Odinga has expressed his concerns over the huge cost of the trip, stating that he finds no justification for sending such a large delegation.
“These institutions have money they do not know what to do with, or they simply don’t care about the burden taxpayers are bearing,” Odinga said.
The list of Kenyan representatives includes several senators, MPs, and MCAs, as well as parliamentary staff.
