On August 9, 2019, SportPesa, a leading betting company, made a shocking announcement that it was cancelling its sponsorship deal with all Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clubs.
The company cited uncertainty over the renewal of its licence and the suspension of its PayBill number as the reasons for the cancellation.
According to SportPesa, all clubs and partners would have received notices as provided for in their contracts.
