Published on August 9, 2019, the Mulembe Golfing Society, which draws its members from Western Kenya, is making its debut in the Coast region with a golf tournament at Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa County.
The event, which has attracted a record field of 163 players, is being staged by Mulembe vice chairman Eric Nyongesa, a member of both Nyali and Mombasa Golf Clubs.
While amateur players will compete for prizes in various categories, professional golfers will battle it out for a purse of Sh200,000.
Leading the hunt for the cash prizes are professional golfers Dismas Indiza from Mumias Golf Club, David Wakhu and Tony Omuli from Golf Park, and others.
Among the amateur players vying for prizes are Mulembe chairman Francis Okwara, vice chairman Eric Nyongesa, and other society members.
The tournament will tee off at 7am for the morning draw and at noon for the afternoon draw.
